The Conference Europe League is an annual football competition that is organised by the European association that governs football. These competitions involve football clubs that qualify on the basis of their performance in national leagues and cup tournaments. It is the third most important club tournament in Europe, ranking below the Champions League and Europa League. The competition started in 2021/22 and is a lower level than the Europa League. Teams from football federations with a lower ranking in Europe participate in their first phase. In June 2023, it was decided to change the name of this competition to the UEFA Conference League, which will apply from the 2024/25 season. The format of the competition resembles the structure of other well-known football tournaments. The competition consists of group phases, where 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four teams each, and a knockout phase comprising rounds: first round, 1/8 final, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. A number of matches are played over a 15-week period, usually on Thursdays, which is similar to the Europa League schedule. The winner of the UEFA Conference League automatically earns the right to play in the group stage of the Europa League the following season. This competition was created to promote teams from the lower leagues that have a lower club ranking in Europe. This gives these teams the chance to compete on the international stage. For the 2023/2024 season, the final will be held at the OPAP Arena in Nea Philadelphia, Greece, and tickets for this event will be available soon. And in the 2024/2025 season, the final will be played at the City Stadium in Wrocław, Poland.
