Tickets Spodek

The Sports and Entertainment Hall Spodek is a unique symbol of Katowice. For more than 40 years it has attracted lovers of cultural events and sports. Despite the passage of time, Spodek still has the capacity and potential to be one of the most important places of social, cultural and economic activity in katowice. Spodek was built in 1971. At the time it was the most modern and also the largest sports and entertainment venue in the country. The first name of the building was the Provincial Sports and Entertainment Hall in Katowice. This name remained in effect until 1997. The building remains to this day the most recognizable building in the Silesian capital. All elements of the Spodek arena form a coherent complex occupying an area of almost 7 hectares. The multifunctionality and versatility of the elements allows for the simultaneous organization of a variety of events, i.e.: artistic events, sports, fairs, exhibitions, as well as congresses and training sessions. Its name refers to a flying saucer, as its shape resembles a UFO. The Spodek makes a significant contribution to the cultural significance of Katowice in Poland, especially for younger generations. It has also been used as the city's unofficial logo on posters promoting the redevelopment of Katowice. In addition, the Spodek is home to field hockey clubs during the winter months. The arena has been modernized several times. The last modernization took place in 2011. All the repairs cost PLN 70 million. This gave the facility a modern image. Most impressive is the new rounded LED screen, suspended from the roof. In addition, the main hall is equipped with powerful lighting and a new monitoring system connected to the fire protection system. Currently, the Arena "Spodek" can even accommodate more than 11,000 people. Over the past 40 years, it has hosted concerts, sports events, ice shows, opera and circus performances, as well as fairs, exhibitions and meetings with politicians. Highlights include concerts by world stars such as tina Turner, metallica, robbie williams, jean michel jarre and depeche mode, as well as matches and performances by top sports teams of field hockey, volleyball, handball and acrobatics. The "Spodek" arena consists of the following: - Main hall with a capacity of 11,000 seats; - A gym with a capacity of 400 seats; - Ice rink - open all year round except during the summer renovation break; - An indoor swimming pool with two saunas and other water attractions; Spodek - events The Spodek hosts many important cultural and business events. Music concerts are particularly popular non-sporting events. The hall can accommodate about 11,500 people, although in practice this number is limited to 10,000 or even 8,000 due to the view-obscuring stage set-up.
